Mark Gower

Mark Gower ( born October 5, 1978 in Edmonton ) is an English footballer. The midfielder, who can be used both centrally and on the wings, started his career at Tottenham Hotspur. His path then led him over unterklassige teams in 2008 to Swansea City. In the club he is today under contract, in the second half of the season 2012/13, however, he was loaned to Charlton Athletic.

Career

Gower, who was born in the London Borough Enfield, started his career at the neighboring club Tottenham Hotspur. The Spurs did not manage him to play in the first team, so he was awarded in the second half of the season 1998/ 99 at the Scottish first division club FC Motherwell. While he scored for Motherwell in nine games once he completed for Tottenham in five years, no league game and only two League Cup games. Therefore, he moved to the beginning of the 2001/02 season for Barnet FC, who at that time in the Conference National, the fifth league was. After two years and over 90 duty stakes, he joined in the summer of 2003, the third division to Southend United. The Shrimpers he reached in the first two years, each the final of the Football League Trophy, but failed each in the finals. The game mode in the league, however, proved far more successful, since one after the restructuring of the English leagues system from the third-tier Football League Two in the Football League One (2005) and next year directly managed the walkover in the second division. When the team in the league not make it into the 2007/ 08 season, Gower refused a contract extension and left the club after more than 200 league games completed.

Swansea City

As a freelance player he was in summer 2008 free transfer to Welsh second division club Swansea City. While he was employed in his career primarily on the wing, he moved with the Swans in the central midfield. From the outset, Gower played in the starting lineup, completed in the first three years a minimum of 30 league games and was thus instrumental in the rise of the team in the Premier League in 2011. In November 2010, he had extended his contract with Swansea City. With the rise of a personnel restructuring was nevertheless connected, so that he lost his place. In the season 2011/12 he was mostly off the bench, but came on 20 missions. In the second Erstligajahr - Gower was already 34 years old - he just stood again on the opening day in the squad and was consequently awarded to the second division side Charlton Athletic for the second half of the 2012/13 season.
