Mark Harris (author)

Mark Harris, Mark Harris actually Finkelstein ( born November 19, 1922 in Mount Vernon, USA, † 30 May, 2007 Santa Barbara, California ) was an American author.

Life

After he had served during the 2nd World War in the United States Army, worked as a journalist in New York City, St. Louis, and Chicago before joining the University of Denver where he graduated in 1951. He received his Ph. D. from the University of Minnesota in 1956 and then taught at various universities. He was from 1980 to 2001 a professorship in English at Arizona State University. His first novel, Trumpet to the World, was published in 1946.

Harris died in 2007 from Alzheimer's in Santa Barbara. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Horen, two sons and a daughter.
