Mark Herring

Mark R. Herring ( born September 25, 1961 in Johnson City, Tennessee ) is an American politician (Democratic Party). Since 2006 he has been a senator in the Senate of Virginia, representing the 33rd district there.

Life

Herring studied at the University of Virginia, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1983, and in 1986 a Master of Arts. At the Law School of the University of Richmond in 1990, he received his Juris Doctor cum laude. Herring practiced now in Leesburg as a lawyer. Later he founded the law firm of Herring & Turner, PC. Between 1992 and 1999, the prosecutor was ( Town Attorney ) of Lovettsville.

His political career began in 1999 when he was elected to the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. This he was a member from 2000 to 2003. In 2006, he was first elected to the Senate of Virginia. The by-election was necessary to reoccupy the vacant seat of Bill Mims. At the next regular elections in 2007 and 2011, he was able to defend his position, respectively.

Herring is married and has two children, a son and a daughter.
