Mark Kennedy (politician)

Mark Raymond Kennedy ( * April 11, 1957 in Benson, Swift County, Minnesota) is an American politician. Between 2001 and 2007 he represented the state of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Mark Kennedy went to 1979 Saint John's University in Collegeville. Then he studied until 1983 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Then Kennedy worked for various companies in the financial sector. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party.

In the congressional elections in 2000 Kennedy was in the second electoral district of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of David Minge on 3 January 2001. This district he represented until January 3, 2003, only for one term in Congress. After the 2002 elections he represented there until January 3, 2007 as the successor of Bill Luther the sixth district of his home state.

In 2006, Kennedy opted not to run again for the U.S. House of Representatives. Instead, he applied unsuccessfully for a seat in the U.S. Senate. In 2007 he became a member of an advisory committee of the presidents who dealt with trade issues ( President's Advisory Committee on Trade Policy and Negotiation ). In 2008, Kennedy was one of the founders of the Economic Club of Minnesota. He now works for a global consultant and technology company. Mark Kennedy is married and lives in Watertown.
