Mark Kirchner

Mark Kirchner ( born April 4, 1970 in Neuhaus am Rennweg ) is a former German biathlete and today's biathlon coach.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville in 1992 Kirchner won medals in all three competitions, two years later he was at the Winter Games in Lillehammer standard-bearer of the German delegation at the opening ceremony and won gold in the biathlon relay. Mark Kirchner was between 1990 and 1995 seven times world champion, alone three times in the sprint. Due to its large dominance at that time it was called also the aliens. After his dominance phase Kirchner's performance began, especially when shooting quickly and massively to subside. Therefore Kirchner in 1999 moved cross-country skiing, but without achieving greater success.

After his playing career, Kirchner was biathlon coach. For the 2007/08 season was Kirchner assistant national coach Frank Ullrich and cared especially at the base Oberhof to youth development. Previously, he spent two years, the course group 1b of the Biathlon Men. For the 2010/11 season, he took over the position of Chief discipline coach of men's team of Frank Ullrich.
