Mark Kratzmann

Mark Kratzmann ( born May 17, 1966 in Murgon, Queensland ) is an Australian former tennis player.

Life

Scratch man was trained at the Australian Institute of Sport, among others, Tony Roche and John Newcombe and won the 1983 junior competitions in the French Open and Wimbledon in the doubles side of Simon Youl. The following year, he won with Mike Baroch also the junior doubles title at the Australian Open. He won the 1984 Junior events at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open and was led this year to first place in the junior world rankings.

In 1984 he became a professional tennis player and reached the quarterfinals of the Challenger tournament in Perth. His first doubles tournament on the ATP World Tour, he won at the side of Kim Warwick in Cincinnati. In 1994 he won at the side of his brother Andrew in Adelaide his last doubles tournament on the ATP World Tour. Overall, he won 18 ATP doubles titles, including the Masters tournament in Cincinnati and three ATP International Series Gold tournaments during his career with changing partners as Wally Masur and Darren Cahill. A further twelve times he stood in a double finals. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1990 with position 50 in singles and position 5 in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round at the Australian Open 1987. In the doubles competition, he stood in 1989 at the finals of the Australian Open, on the side of Darren Cahill, he was defeated by the Americans Rick Leach and Jim Pugh.

Scratch husband played 1990-1991 three double batches for the Australian Davis Cup team. On the side of Darren Cahill, he contributed by his victories in the double encounters to enter the final against the United States, where in the 2-3 defeat, however, Pat Cash and John Fitzgerald competed in the doubles. The following year, he was defeated at the side of Todd Woodbridge in the quarterfinals against the French duo of Guy Forget and Henri Leconte.
