Mark Leduc

Mark Leduc ( born May 5, 1962 in Ontario, † July 22, 2009 in Toronto ) was a Canadian boxer.

Leduc began with the boxing when he was twelve years old. After his parents divorced, he tore at the age of 15 years from home and lived on the streets. After he had robbed a jewelry store, he was sentenced to a prison term of six years. While in prison his Boxtalent fell on one of his guards, who eventually it started that Mark was able to train in a real Boxstudio. In 1988 he was released from prison. 1989, 1991 and 1992, Leduc Canadian champion welterweight ( -63.5 kg ).

His biggest success as an amateur boxer celebrated Leduc then at the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, when he won the silver medal in the light welterweight. During his amateur period he 184 fights, of which he only lost 26.

In 1992, he then tried to get into the professional game, but after only five fights he ended his Boxlaufbahn. After he had finished his active career, Leduc outed himself in 1994 in the documentation For the Love of the Game as a homosexual.

Last of Canadians worked as a stagehand in the movie business.

On July 19, 2009 Leduc was found unconscious in a hotel sauna in Toronto. He was immediately transported to the local hospital, where he died on July 22. The cause of death heat stroke is suspected, were damaged in the internal organs.
