Mark Mitera

Mark Mitera ( born October 22, 1987 in Royal Oak, Michigan ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since July 2011 with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League under contract on their farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League.

Career

Mark Mitera began his career as a hockey player in the 2003/04 season in the U.S. National Team Development Program and played in the Junior League North American Hockey League, where he came up with two goals and 13 assists in 43 games. In the following season he played 16 games and reached eight points scorer. For the season 2005/ 06 he moved to the University of Michigan. In just three years, he completed 131 games and scored a total of 54 points. During the NHL Entry Draft in 2006, he was selected in the first round to 19th position of the Anaheim Ducks. During the 2008/09 season Mitera was first captain of the hockey team, the University of Michigan, but was later replaced by Chris Summers.

After Mitera on 30 March 2009 signed a fixed-term three-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks, he was sent to the end of season 2008/ 09 to the Iowa Chops of the American Hockey League, where he made ​​two points in five appearances. The defender started the season 2009/10 with the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL, but was sent after a few games at the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL.

After he had spent the training camp in September 2010 at the Anaheim Ducks, Mitera was sent in the first squad reduction to the Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League. On 15 July 2011 it transferred the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Mathieu Carle to the Montreal Canadiens.

Internationally

Mitera represented his country at the World U -17 Hockey Challenge 2004, the U18 Junior World Championship in 2005 and the U20 World Youth Championship in 2006. The latter two tournaments of the defenders also ran as an assistant captain of the U.S. selection on the ice. His greatest success was about winning the gold medal at the U18 World Youth Championship in 2005.
