Mark Oaten

Mark Oaten ( born March 8, 1964 in Watford, Hertfordshire) is a British politician and MP for the Liberal Democrats in the House of Commons.

Life

Oaten visited the Queens ' School in Bushey. After leaving school, studied at the Hatfield Polytechnic Oaten, University of Hertfordshire. After his studies he worked as a consultant and lobbyist for various companies from Westminster.

Political career

Oaten began to become politically active in addition to his profession. He was Chairman of the Social Democratic Party in the city council of Watford. 1988 originated from the union of the Liberal Party and Social Democratic Party, the party Liberal Democrats. In the British general election in 1992 he failed the catchment as MP for the Liberal Democrats. Only at the British general election, 1997 won the seat for Oaten Winchester in the House, defeating the Conservative MP Gerry Malone. Oaten defended his seat at the general election in 2001 and 2005. In January 2006, he resigned from his candidacy for the presidency of the Liberal Democrats. On 21 January 2006, the British newspaper News of the World published an article which Oaten in the summer of 2004 to February 2005, an affair with a 23 -year-old prostitute had.

Oaten is married and has two daughters.
