Mark Overmars

Mark " Mark " Hendrik Overmars ( born September 29, 1958 in Zeist ) is a Dutch computer scientist. He directs the Center for Geometry, Imaging, and Virtual Environments ( GIVE ) at the University of Utrecht.

Mark Overmars has written some software for work and leisure. His most popular works are the GUI toolkit XForms and the program Game Maker, which allows it without learning a complex programming language to create computer games. Game Maker is currently available in version 8.1.

Overmars in 1983 received his doctorate at the University of Utrecht in Jan van Leeuwen ( The design of dynamic data structures).

Overmars is concerned with computer-aided geometry ( Computational Geometry ), including virtual worlds and geographic information systems, and robotics. In 1992, he developed the Probabilistic Roadmap method in robotics and wrote a textbook on Computational Geometry.
