Mark Ricks

Mark G. Ricks ( born July 4, 1924 in Rexburg, Idaho ) is a former American politician. In 2006 and 2007 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Idaho.

Career

Mark Ricks grew up in Madison County. Later he worked as a farmer and rancher. He built on mainly potatoes and corn and raised livestock. Since the late 1940s he was politically active as a member of the Republican Party, in which he first held a number of party offices. In 1976 he was named after the breaking of the Teton Dam in wider circles known when he organized the reconstruction. Between 1979 and 1994 he sat in the Senate of Idaho, where he was Chairman and Deputy Chairman of various committees. He was also a member of numerous associations and organizations in his homeland.

Following the resignation of Governor Dirk Kempthorne, who had been appointed Secretary of the Interior, to be Lieutenant Governor Jim Risch became constitutionally, to his successor. This Ricks then appointed his successor as lieutenant governor, who held this office between 15 June 2006 and 1 January 2007. In 2006, Rick gave up another candidacy. Instead, Risch, who will not seek re -election as governor, was re-elected Vice- Governor Butch Otter below.
