Mark Rydell

Mark Rydell ( born March 23, 1934 in New York, USA) is an American film director, producer and actor.

Life

Rydell settled in New York at the Juilliard School, the "Neighborhood Playhouse School " and eventually form the Actors Studio by Lee Strasberg acting and dramaturgy. In the 1950s, he was a busy actor and musician. He played 1956-1962 in the CBS soap opera As the World Turns. In 1956 he got his first film role in Crime in the Street by Don Siegel. In the 1960s he was able to acquire a reputation as an accomplished director of television series. His first work as a film director was The Fox in 1968, who won a Golden Globe and composer Lalo Schifrin even earned a nomination for Best Music at the Academy Awards. 13 years later Rydell was even nominated for Best Director at On Golden Pond with Katharine Hepburn and Henry Fonda for an Oscar. In 1973, he had a remarkable comeback as an actor in The Long Goodbye anniversary of his long-time friend Robert Altman. After that, he had supporting roles in films such as Punchline 1988 and Havana in 1989, the latter directed by Sydney Pollack. Together with Pollack founded Rydell mid- 1980s, the " Sandford Productions ".

From 1962 to 1979 Mark Rydell was married to actress Joanne Linville. Your children Christopher and Amy are also an actor.
