Mark Scanlon (cyclist)

Mark Scanlon ( born October 10, 1980 in Sligo) is a former Irish cyclist.

In 1998, Mark Scanlon already Irish junior champion. A little later, he struck at the World Championships in Valkenburg, among others, Filippo Pozzato in the final sprint. Finally, he got a place at 2001 Linda McCartney, after being driven there in the previous year as a stagiaire. The team broke apart, however, before the start of the new season. 2002 Scanlon then went at AG2R Prévoyance to the sample and also got a professional contract for the following season. In his first year there, he was equal to Irish champion and won a stage of the Tour of Denmark. In the 2004 Tour de France he made his debut with a 89th place in the overall standings. In 2007 he moved to unterklassigen team Toyota - United, ended there, however, after only a year at the age of 27 his career.
