Markel Susaeta

Markel Susaeta Laskurain ( born December 14, 1987 in Eibar ) is a Spanish footballer who plays in the Spanish La Liga at Athletic Bilbao.

Playing career

Markel Susaeta took up the proven career path in the Basque flagship club Athletic Bilbao. After he had gone through the entire youth departments of the club, he moved into the Tercera División to CD Baskonia. Like many other Athletic talent he also became a regular player there to. In the following years he played a notch higher, in Segunda División B for the U23 team of Athletic. His debut for Bilbao was Susaeta in the 1-3 defeat at FC Barcelona on 2 September 2007 when he scored the only goal of his same team and at the end of La Liga 2007/ 08 on 29 missions and could look back four goals. Since then, he was an integral root of the first team. According to table eighth in 2010 he qualified with Athletic Bilbao by a sixth place in 2010 /11 UEFA Europa League 2011 /12. There Susaeta reached with his club after victories among others Manchester United, FC Schalke 04 and Sporting Lisbon, the European Cup final, but lost in the final Atlético Madrid.
