Marker (linguistics)

In modern linguistics is meant by a marker (of English. To mark " mark " ) a grammatical morpheme ( Grammem ). A marker can be either bound or free. It determines or modifies a lexical morpheme ( lexeme ) in terms of its function in the context of morphology and / or syntax.

By a marker that is a grammatical category is marked, that is highlighted. The term labeling refers to the use of markers.
