Market Rasen

Market Rasen is a market town in the district of West Lindsey the English county of Lincolnshire. She had 3,230 inhabitants in 2001 according to census. Market Rasen located 29 kilometers east of Gainsborough, 22 kilometers northeast of Lincoln and 26 miles south-west of Grimsby on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Cityscape and history

Market Rasen has a substantially homogeneous brick architecture in the Georgian and Victorian style. In the market place is an old gothic church.

With the ' Market Rasen Racecourse ' Market Rasen has a known racecourse. In addition, the place is known for its rugby and golf clubs. The town has its own newspaper, the weekly Market Rasen Mail, which was established in 1856. The newspaper is published by Johnston Press.

On 27 February 2008, at 00:56 local time clock in the region, an earthquake whose epicenter was located four kilometers north of Market Rasen occurred. The quake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale was felt even in Edinburgh, Plymouth, Bangor, Northern Ireland and in the Netherlands Haarlem. It was the strongest earthquake in the UK since 1984.

Traffic

Market Rasen is located on the A46 ( Batheaston - Cleethorpes ). The local train station at the junction of railway Grimsby - Lincoln - Newark was opened in 1848 and is now operated by East Midlands Trains. The nearest airport is 25 km to the north Humberside Airport, where the Motorway ( M180 ) is.

School and Education

The only school in Market Rasen De Aston is the School, which was founded in 1863. She is a secondary school with students from the 7th grade to the sixth form.

De Aston is also a boarding school, which is incidentally inhabited by foreign students.
