Märkische Museum Railway

Plettenberg Köbbinghauser Hammer

The association märkische Museum Railway Association ( MME) was established in order to obtain narrow-gauge railway vehicles from small cars and to show in operation. The association operates infrastructure and transport the Sauerland small train.

History

Founded on 14 July 1982 in Plettenberg, the club took the opportunity of the vehicles currently disused railways island Juist and Spiekeroog to buy, some of which were used to run in the Sauerland. Today, however, is only a vehicle of the island railway Spiekeroog available. The focus of the collection activities following tracks were:

  • Circle Altenaer Railway ( KAE ), 1888-1967
  • Plettenberger light railway ( PKB), 1896-1962
  • Iserlohn circular path ( IKB), 1900-1964
  • Hohenlimburger light railway ( BUA ), 1900-1983
  • Small train hasp - Voerde - Breckerfeld (HVB ), 1903-1963

In Plettenberg, the association was set up to track remnants of PKB and a makeshift studio in an old boiler house to restore the vehicles purchased. On the edge also relics of the Ruhr -Lippe Railway (RLE ) and a series of narrow gauge industrial railways could be saved, which include, for example, the historically interesting Harkort carbon track counts, which, founded by industry pioneer Friedrich Harkort, already in 1829 - six years before the Ludwigsbahn Nuremberg -Fürth - its operation, though initially as a horse track, recorded.

At the western end of the station was with the financial help of North Rhine -Westphalia Foundation a depot with a three-pronged Wagenhalle and, still unfinished, water tower built. The entire station area is free from outside and accessible free of charge. In the presence of club members the Wagenhalle with the accommodated therein locomotives and cars can be visited free of charge. Many (small engine ) car stand out, however, and can still be visited. But the condition of this car is not very good. They should be prepared according to back and.
