Markku Peltola

Markku Juhani Peltola ( born July 12, 1956 in Helsinki, † 31 December 2007 in Kangasala ) was a Finnish actor and musician.

Life and career

Peltola was known to international film audiences especially from films of the Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki; In 2002, he played in Kaurismäki's film The Man Without a Past ( Mies vailla menneisyyttä ) the main role in the previous film and 1996 Drifting Clouds ( Kauas pilvet karkaavat ) a minor role.

Peltola was also active as a musician; in the 1980s he performed with the group Motelli Skronkle as a singer and guitarist, 2004 and 2006, he released two solo albums. One of his last tasks was the construction of the theater restaurants Telakka in Tampere as a cultural center; Shortly before his death he was there still ruling leader active. Peltola died after a serious illness in late 2007 at the age of 51 years.
