Markku Uusipaavalniemi

Markku Juhani Uusipaavalniemi ( born November 23, 1966 in Karkkila ) is a Finnish curler and politician.

His biggest success is winning the gold medal at the European Championships 2000 in Oberstdorf. In addition, he won two bronze medals at the World Championships (1998 in Kamloops and 2000 in Glasgow ) and two bronze medals at European Championships (1999 in Chamonix and 2001 Vierumaeki ).

2005 Uusipaavalniemi won in Andorra the inaugural Mixed Championship, along with Kirsi Nykänen, Teemu Salo and Tiina Kautonen. At the Olympic Winter Games in 2006 he won the silver medal.

The Curling Continental Cup 2006 he was awarded the best player.

His nickname is " U-15 " or "M -15", with fifteen stands for the number of letters in his last name. He lives in Hyvinkää, in addition to working as a mathematician and can complete a Rubik's cube within half a minute.

In March 2007 Uusipaavalniemi was elected to the Finnish Parliament. He first belonged to the Centre Party in 2010 and joined the party of base fins (also known as True Finns ) and was at the fraction of the base Finns in parliament since until April 2011 Member.
