Geography

Marklkofen lies in the region and Dingolfing, together with the municipalities rice Bach and Frontenhausen the "Middle Vilstal " in which the Vilstalstausee and the outdoor pool can be found in Steinberg.

There are the following districts: Marklkofen, Poxau, Steinberg, Frauenbiburg, Reith.

History

Marklkofen belonged to the Barons of purlins or the barons of Imsland. The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and included two closed Hofmarken whose seat was the respective lock ( medium / purlins, lower / Imsland ). The Baron von Frauenhofen were up in 1857 also owners. Through a gift of the then head of the house, the castle went together with land to the School Sisters of Notre Dame. is to establish with the support a school. Culture and sights

The parish church of the Assumption is a stately three-aisled basilica pseudo -Roman origin. It was enlarged in the 15th century, including the St. Anne's Chapel. Inside there are carved figures of the 16th century and a sandstone relief Lamentation of Christ by 1520. Noteworthy are also several grave times of the 15th and 16th centuries, including the monument to Wilhelm Zach Rice († 1423 ) and a Rotmarmorplatte for the brothers of Ms. Berg ( 1555-60 ) as well as an epitaph for Johann by Mrs. Berg ( † 1597).

At the site there is the second largest employer of the district of Dingolfing- Landau, the automotive supplier Mann Hummel GmbH, which also has works in Sonneberg, Speyer, Ludwigsburg and at other sites. Furthermore, the Brickyard GIMA ( Girnghuber GmbH Marklkofen ) should be mentioned.
