Geography
Geographical Location
The market is located north of the Franconian Switzerland nature park Veldenstein Forest at the confluence of Steinach and Unterrodach.
History
The village was first mentioned in a deed of the year 1071.
The community was first called Graitz. In 1894 its name was officially changed to Marktgraitz.
Spin-offs
On 1 January 1977 parts of the territory with more than 100 inhabitants to the neighboring community Schneckenlohe were ceded ( district Kronach ).
