Geography
Marktoffingen is in the Ries and is part of the planning region of Augsburg.
The municipality consists of the villages of Wengen and Minderoffingen Hausen and the wastelands Ramsteinerhof and Schnabelhof. There are the districts Marktoffingen and Minderoffingen.
History
Since the first half of the 13th century the place was as a fief of the Augsburg cathedral chapter in the possession of the Counts of Oettingen, last line of Oettingen -Wallerstein. Since 1500 Marktoffingen 's Office, later chief official with their own high courts of the principality of Oettingen -Wallerstein. With the Act of Confederation in 1806 the place came to the Kingdom of Bavaria.
