Markus Esser

Markus Esser ( born February 3, 1980 in Leverkusen ) is a German hammer thrower.

At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney he failed as well in qualifying as at the European Championships in Munich in 2002.

In Athens at the 2004 Olympics he reached the final and was three litters eleventh. In June 2005, he threw for the first time over 80 meters and got away with it in the wide range of world class. He was able to confirm this litter at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki and finished fourth with a distance of 79.16 m. 2006 once eaters at the European Championships in Gothenburg with 79.19 m again to fourth place. Due to the disqualification of two Belarusians for doping both times before he moved to second place. In 2007 he was eighth with 79.66 meters at the World Championships in Osaka.

A ninth place finish at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing was followed by a sixth at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin. At the European Championships 2010 in Barcelona eaters missed with 71.89 m of qualifying for the final. At the 2011 World Championships in Daegu Korean, he finished with 79.12 m for the umpteenth time the fourth place in a major international competition. Eaters were missing 27 centimeters for bronze medal.

At the European Championships 2012 in Helsinki eater came in at number seven. At the Olympic Games in London, he had to do without health reasons. At the World Championships 2013 in Moscow, he finished 10th.

In German Championships eaters long stood in the shadow of Karsten Kobs, behind which he took second place in 2002 and 2003. 2006 and 2007, Esser was German champion in each case before Kobs. He also won the national title in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. His best performance he put on 28 July 2006 with 81,10 m in Leverkusen.

Markus Esser starts since 1991 for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen. He is an educator and former corporal of the Bundeswehr.
