Views

Ferber demanded that rating agencies have assigned ratings according to a uniform and established system. Analysts, however, fear for freedom of expression - and provoke contradiction. "With freedom of speech has little to do ," says the CSU MEP Markus Ferber, a member of the Economic and Monetary Committee. A false rating costs taxpayers money. "Rating agencies must also take responsibility for what they do."

The EU Parliament has adopted in 2011 a Regulation on short selling and credit default swaps in order to curb destructive speculation. As shadow rapporteur for the EPP Group in the European Parliament Ferber has wrested in tough negotiations very strict EU-wide restrictions on short selling the Member States and the Commission and a ban on trade with uncovered credit default swaps ( credit default swaps - CDS) enforced. The transparency rules for two highly speculative financial instruments should contribute to the stability of financial markets. "This is a highly speculative product," says Ferber. "In principle it's the same as when they conclude a fire insurance for their neighbor's house, hoping that the burns as quickly as possible. "

In June 2010, Ferber called together with the Berlin CDU deputies Peter Trapp, the introduction of intelligence tests for immigrants. Ferber stressed that " humanitarian reasons [ ... ] not the only criterion for immigration be " can, claiming falsely: "Canada is because a lot further and demands of immigrant children have a higher IQ than with local children. " In Canada, there are no intelligence tests for immigrants.
