Markus Gandler

Markus Gandler ( born August 20, 1966 in Kitzbühel, Tyrol) is a former Austrian cross-country skiers and ORF - co-commentator. He is currently the Austrian Ski racing director for cross-country skiing and biathlon.

Career as a cross country skier

A graduate of Skihandelsschule Stams was 16 years active in the Cross Country World Cup and finished his career in March 2000 as a high- performance athletes. The best World Cup result of the Tyrolese, who started for the Ski Club Kitzbuhel, is a third place in winter 1989/90 in Canmore, Canada. But his finest hour struck for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, as he left Bjørn Dæhlie won the first Austrian Olympic medal in cross-country skiing in the 10 km competition with the silver medal. The former Junior World Championship runner then rose after a serious Nebenhöhleneiterung for Christmas 1997 from the World Cup, and prepared himself off of his teammates intensely on the games in Nagano before.
