Markus Seikola

Markus Seikola ( born June 5, 1982 in Laitila ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since April 2013 with TPS Turku of the SM - liiga under contract.

Career

Markus Seikola began his career as a hockey player in the junior section of TPS Turku, for his first team, he made his debut in the SM- liiga in the 2000 /01 season. In his rookie year he was with TPS at first Finnish Champion. He scored two goals in a total of 33 appearances. In the 2003 / 04 season, the defender also failing tete with his team until the playoff finals. Shortly before the end of the season 2005/ 06 for Frölunda HC Seikola moved from the Swedish Elitserien, with whom he was defeated by Färjestad BK in the playoff finals. After another season in Sweden, he played in the 2007/ 08 season in his native Finland for the HPK Hämeenlinna. From 2008 to 2010 he ran for the traditional club Ilves Tampere. There he was able to convince especially in the 2008/ 09 season, when he was honored as the best defender of the SM- liiga with Pekka - Rautakallio trophy and elected to the All-Star team.

For the 2010/11 season Seikola was committed from Södertälje SK. With the Elitserien participants he could descend into the HockeyAllsvenskan, the second Swedish league, not prevent, after which he joined the Pelicans Lahti from the SM- liiga.

BY the 2012/13 season he returned to his hometown club TPS Turku.

Internationally

For Seikola Finland took part in the junior level at the U18 World Youth Championship 2000 and the U20 Junior World Cup 2002. At the 2000 U18 World Cup he won with his team the gold, at the 2002 U20 World Championships bronze medal. In the senior level in 2009 and 2010 he was in the squad of his country at the Euro Hockey Tour.
