Werner figures

The hero of Markus Werner, who made his debut at the age of 40 years with Zundel's departure (1984 ), have turned their backs on their profession. From their point of view Werner with humor, astonishment, but also despair describes laconically, everyday. This creates an abundance of severely calculated scenes and episodes in which the arrangement of the world, the Werners protagonist can not make a rhyme, in over sharp, sometimes grotesque details came to light. Especially at the seemingly innocuous quirks of everyday life fail Werner's figures, on the deaf ears of their fellow men, to their cold, stubborn souls - Zundel's finish is prefixed as a motto a telling quote Robert Walser: " For getting warm all appearances was by no cause before ." The human shortcomings are presented in tragicomic tone. In Werner's texts, the obvious is as strange; one marvels and wonders how a child. His fictional characters plead for the right to have weaknesses and can make mistakes ( "Safety is the hallmark of the gannet ", in: The cold shoulder, or Chinese proverb ), they long for tenderness, but at the same time cursing in often sharply the world, their fellow human beings and not least himself
