Marlango

Marlango is a Spanish music group. It is heavily influenced by the atmospheric music of Tom Waits ( from one of his songs comes also the band name Marlango ) and consists of the singer Leonor Watling, Alejandro Pelayo pianist and trumpeter Óscar Ybarra.

Career

Back in 1998, took Leonor and Alejandro a demo tape with 14 songs on, written for piano and voice, and thus created the starting point for her until years later appearing debut album. In the summer of 2002, then decided the New York Óscar Ybarra, who was recently moved to Madrid to participate in the project. The three of them then rounded off the plant and in February 2004 finally saw the eponymous debut album of Marlango the world. It contains influences from rock to jazz, but was in his gloomy mood probably influenced by scenes from the films of David Lynch and music by Tom Waits.

After the release of the album the band toured for a year throughout Spain, Portugal and Japan. From Marlango be sold more than 50,000 copies, which is why the band of Pedro Almodóvar (the one with the singer Leonor Watling, who is well known as an actress, has worked in several film projects) has been awarded a gold record in person.

The second album of the band Automatic imperfection was published in September 2005 and Marlango has also been introduced a gold record in Spain.

On 4 April 2008 the album "The Electrical Morning" came out. It is the third studio album by the band.
