Marlboro County, South Carolina

Marlboro County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Bennettsville.

Geography

The County is located in northeastern South Carolina, bordering North Carolina and has an area of ​​1257 square kilometers, of which 14 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Anson County ( North Carolina), Richmond County ( North Carolina), Scotland County ( North Carolina), Robeson County ( North Carolina), Dillon County, Florence County, Darlington County and Chesterfield County.

History

Marlboro County was formed in 1798. It was named after John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, the famous British generals in the War of Spanish Succession and politicians.
