Marlborough Road tube station

Marlborough Road is a closed London Underground station on the Metropolitan Line. It belongs to a group of three disused stations that lay between today's stations Baker Street and Finchley Road. The other two are Lord's and Swiss Cottage ( not to be confused with the homonymous station today's Jubilee Line ).

The opening of the station took place on April 13, 1868 as part of the commissioning route between Swiss Cottage and Baker Street. The platforms were situated in a covered incision, the station building was located on the corner of Finchley Road and Queen's Grove. The station has always been little used. On 1 October 1929 were highly abbreviated opening times into force; the station was only open on weekdays from 9:30 bis 17:00 clock clock. The closing took place on 19 November 1939 in order to accelerate the Metropolitan Line, which continues today as then far into the countryside.

The connection to the metro network (now part of the Jubilee Line ) ensure the following day by the opening of the Stanmore branch of the Bakerloo line, with the station St John's Wood, which is a short walk away. The station building is now used by a Chinese restaurant. The platform systems are no longer obtain. Instead, they built two short Behelfsbahnsteige, which today serve as an emergency exit.
