Marlin (car)
Marlin Engineering is a British automobile manufacturer who is resident since 1979, first in Plymouth (Devon) and then in Crediton (Devon).
The company was founded by Paul Moorhouse, who for their own use is decided by the construction of several prototypes to take one of them as kit car in series production. In 1979, the first kits were sold.
The first model was the Roadster, which was manufactured until the construction was sold along with the Berlinetta 1992 Yorkshire Kit Cars ( YKC ), where they were made , until the owner retired in 2006 and at the Aquila Sports Cars Ltd. resold.
The mid- 1990s, the company was sold to Terry and Mark Matthews, introduced the model Hunter.
Models
Roadster
The Roadster was the first model and was based on the Triumph Herald. The two-seater car made of aluminum and GRP had a grille that resembled those of the pre-war sports car from Alfa Romeo. 1981 replaced the rear axle of the Morris Marina and Triumph of the engine of the Marina was included as standard, although many customers internals other engines.
Berlinetta
The Berlinetta came in 1984 as a 2 2 coupe out and consisted of parts of the Ford Cortina Mark III or Mark IV
Convertible
The 1991 published convertible was an evolution of the roadster with parts from Ford Sierra.
Hunter
The Hunter was a ready built car that was based on the convertible.
Sportster
The Sportster is the successor to the roadster, which has been completely revised and was also delivered as a roadster. He has a standard six-cylinder engine of the BMW 3 Series E36 with 2.0 to 3.5 liters. The vehicle is 3.65 m long, 1.65 m wide and weighed about 850 kg. It is available as a kit or ready built car.
5EXi
Unlike its predecessors, Marlin decided at 5EXi the retro look, and built a modern two-seater mid-engine, again as a roadster. The car has a space frame, are mounted on the FRP panels and the four-cylinder engines with 1100 cc to 2000 cc displacement derived from either Honda Civic or from the Rover K - series. The vehicle is 3.55 m long, 1.69 m wide and weighs about 650 kg.
The car is available as a kit or as ready -built vehicle. The work indicates that the kit can be built in 100 hours.
