Marlon Riggs

Marlon Riggs ( born February 3, 1957 in Fort Worth, Texas; † 5 April 1994) was an American film producer, author, poet and LGBT activist.

Life

Riggs was born in an African-American family in Texas in 1957. After his school days in the 1960s Riggs studied in the 1970s at Harvard University and an MA in 1981 reached in journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. Riggs produced and turned after several films and documentaries, especially about homosexuality and African- Americans. Riggs died in 1994 of complications from AIDS. 2006 Riggs was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the organization National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association.
