Marmalade (band)

The Marmalade was a Scottish pop group who had 10 hits in the UK single charts 1968-1976 a total of eight top. Because of their celebrity cocktail named after her, the " Marmaladdie ".

Band History

The band was founded in 1961 and initially called Dean Ford & the Gaylords. From 1964 to 1966, the Quintet in Scotland was chosen in each case to the top band, which was founded in the fact that they occurred almost constantly in every Scottish town. 1967, the Group adopted the Windsor Jazz Festival, where she stole all other participants in the show. This was followed by a move to London, renamed to The Marmalade and gigs at the famous Marquee Club.

In May 1968, succeeded with Lovin 'Things, the first top 10 success, it was followed in October 1968 Wait for Me Marianne, but could only reach Rank 30. The song was written by the successful British team of authors Ken Howard / Alan Blaikley, all the hits of the Marmalade from December 1968 until Baby Make It Soon (June 1969) produced in the future. The driving forces of the band were singer Dean Ford and bassist Graham Knight. With the departure of Junior Campbell began a series of reshuffles. Even drummer Alan Whitehead left the band. Trying to progressive rock to upgrade, had little success.

The tapered Marmalade is headed by Graham Knight and after the turn of the millennium at Oldie Festival still on tour.
