Marmande

Marmande is a French town with 18 218 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Lot- et- Garonne in the Aquitaine region. The city is the seat of the prefecture (French Sous- préfecture ) of the arrondissements Marmande, this consists of ten cantons.

Marmande is located on the eastern bank of the Garonne River and has its own railway station on the line Bordeaux - Sète SNCF.

During the Albigensian Crusade, the Crusaders committed in 1219 under Prince Ludwig ( VIII ) of France after the conquest of the city, a massacre, the 5,000 residents were killed.
