Maroantsetra

Province

Maroantsetra is a city on the northeast coast of Madagascar in the region Analanjirofo and Toamasina province. The city is located at the northern end of the bay of Antongil. About two kilometers southeast of the small island of Nosy Mangabe is located in this bay. In 2005 Maroantsetra had 22,503 inhabitants.

Traffic

Maroantsetra has a port and an airport and is connected by the National Road 5 with Mananara North and Toamasina.

Others

The management of the National Park Masoala has its headquarters in the city. The National Park Mananara Nord is located about 100 km south of Maroantsetra. The Nature Reserve of Nosy Mangabe is also near the town.
