Marolterode

Marolterode is a municipality in Unstrut Hainich in Thuringia. It belongs to the administrative community Schlotheim, which has its administrative headquarters in town Schlotheim.

Geography

Marolterodde is located southeast of Schlotheim on the regional road in 1027 on the northwest exit of the chimney Heimer trench, which runs in the Heilinger heights in the north- west of the Thuringian Basin.

History

In the local situation of Marolterode were found during excavations finds that already point to a Germanic settlement. The village Malterode itself was probably first recorded in 1288. Just has this number is not so far. On May 27, 1301 Marolterode was mentioned in the possessions of the monastery Volkenroda. According to a document from the second calendar week in June 1305 Günther von Schwarzburg granted the monastery Volkenroda duty-free over the place.

1580 appear the names " Marroda ", " Maroldishausen " or " Maroldshausen " for the place in documents. From 1690 we find the form Marolterode. The name suggests a formerly living from horse breeding place, because the name of the village comes from the word " Marolt ," the term for horse owners ( " Moravia Holder ").

The place changed over the centuries hands several times. Initially belonging to the territory of the Landgrave of Thuringia, it later came to Elector Maurice of Saxony, then to Count Heise of Lutterberg and finally into the possession of the monastery in Schlotheim.

1753 was Marolterode, also called Ramshackle, a place of settlement of outpatient day laborers, Flicker pan, broom makers, knife-grinders, Kessler and musicians. He is often described as a strong passage area of the curved finger - Balthasar band of robbers. The band member, reported Hanns Georg Koch, called Zippel meat live in disrepair.

On 6 / 8 April 1945 U.S. tanks were put in place by German assault guns under fire. It developed an hour-long, lossy fight. Twenty German Fallen on April 8 in the evening were rescued by the villagers and later buried in a common grave in the churchyard. During the fighting, the population was evacuated for several days in Schlotheim.

1959 was due to a Marolterode triggered by lightning fire in a gas sample hole just before an evacuation.

The Council of the Municipality Marolterode Council consists of 6 women and councilors, who are all a Free Voters Association. (As at municipal election on June 27, 2004)

The honorary mayor Joachim Haase was re-elected on June 6, 2010.

Others

As evidence of a bawdy folk humor already formed centuries ago particularities of each village out characterizing Neck and nickname. Accordingly, lived here in the place Pasebinger - Besenbinder - also Kulbesköppe, Maröder and scooters - as a derivation from the place name.
