Marquaix

Marquaix ( Picard: Marqué ) is a commune with 220 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton Roisel and is part of the Communauté de communes du canton de Roisel.

Geography

The community is located approximately 2.5 km west of Roisel at the department D6 road on the river Cologne. To her belongs the district Hamelet. By Marquaix the section Peronne - Épehy was the former railway line from Saint- Just-en -Chaussée to Douai with a breakpoint in Hamelet (passenger in April 1970 set ).

History

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
