Marshall County (Illinois)
The Marshall County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the County had 12,640 inhabitants and a population density of 12.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lacon.
Geography
The County is located in north-central Illinois on both sides of the Illinois River. It has an area of 1032 square kilometers, of which 32 square kilometers are water surface. At the Marshall County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History
The Marshall County was formed on January 19, 1839, from parts of the Bond and Clark County. It was named after John Marshall (1755-1835), a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives (1799-1800), Foreign Minister (1800-1801) and long-time Chief Justice of the United States ( 1801-1835 ).

According to the census in 2010 lived in Marshall County 12,640 people in 5061 households. The population density was 12.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 5061 households lived statistically 2.45 per person.
The racial the population was composed of 98.0 percent white, 0.5 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 0.5 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 0.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity were 2.7 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
21.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 58.5 percent were between 18 and 64 and 20.0 percent were 65 years or older. 50.7 percent of the population was female.
The median income for a household was $ 51,642. The per capita income was $ 25,600. 9.3 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
