Marshall County (Kansas)

Marshall County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Marysville.

Geography

The County is located in northeast Kansas, Nebraska and bordered to the north has an area of ​​2342 square kilometers, of which five square miles are water. It borders in Kansas clockwise to the following counties: Nemaha County, Pottawatomie County, Riley County and Washington County.

History

Marshall County was formed on 25 August 1855, one of the first 33 counties that were formed by the first territorial administration. It was named after Frank J. Marshall, a U.S. General who built a ferry to cross the Big Blue River. On May 30, 1879 Tornado Irving moved by the County.
