Marshall County (Tennessee)

Marshall County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lewisburg.

Geography

The County is located just south of the geographic center of Tennessee, located about 45 km to the south is from Alabama and has an area of 974 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Rutherford County, Bedford County, Lincoln County, Giles County, Maury County and Williamson County.

History

Marshall County was formed on February 20, 1836 from parts of Bedford County, Lincoln County and Maury County. It was named after John Marshall, a presiding judge of the Supreme Court of the United States ( Supreme Court of the United States ).
