Martha Coolidge

Martha Coolidge ( born August 17, 1946 in New Haven (Connecticut) ) is an American film director and television producer whose films usually have a comedic feminist background.

Martha Coolidge graduated in 1968 at the Rhode Iceland School of Design with a bachelor's degree and earned in 1974 at the New York University's Master of Fine Arts. While still a student, she created acclaimed autobiographical short films. By Valley Girl (1983 ) brought out the young Nicolas Cage, with Real Genius (1985 ), she won the Grand Prix of the Festival du Film de Paris. Rambling Rose ( 1991) won the Independent Spirit Award, an Oscar nomination for Laura Dern managed the breakthrough.

Since the 2000s she has worked mainly used for various television series and movies.
