Martha Wash

Martha Wash ( born December 28, 1953 in San Francisco, California) is an American singer.

She started her career as a background singer Sylvester James. With her ​​colleague Izora Rhodes Armstead they formed the band Two Tons O 'Fun. Later they changed their name into The Weather Girls and had to It's Raining Men a top hit.

After the end of The Weather Girls Martha Wash the late 80s lent her voice to various House acts, including Black Box and C & C Music Factory. However, it was replaced by playback singers because of their excess weight in the music videos.

In 1993 she released her first CD under his own name Martha Wash.

In 1996 and 1997 she took with Todd Terry and Jocelyn Brown two successful hits on, Keep On Jumping and Something's Going On. In 1997 she published The Collection, a best-of album with the biggest hits of her 20 - year career.
