Martí Vergés

Martín Vergés Massa ( born March 8, 1934 in Vidreres, Girona ) is a former Spanish footballer.

Career

Until he was 16 years old, played Vergés for Vidreres before he moved to FC Barcelona in 1950, where he was active in the youth department until 1954. The midfielder then went to España Industrial, before returning to Barça in 1956 and remained until the end of his active career in there. With the Catalans, he won the Fairs Cup 1955-58, 1958-60 and 1965 /66, in the Primera División 1958/59 and 1959/60 as well as the Copa del Rey 1956/57, 1958/59 and 1962 /63.

Vergés completed 1957-1962 twelve games for Spain, in which he scored two goals. In 1962 he participated in the World Cup with Spain. There, however, Spain already retired on the group stage as Table. Vergés worked in the match against Mexico ( 1-0) and Brazil (1:2). He also ran three times for the football team of Catalonia on (1 goal ).
