Martin Albertz

Martin Albertz ( born May 7, 1883 in Halle ( Saale), † December 29, 1956 in Berlin) was a Protestant theologian and resistance fighter against the Nazi regime.

Life

In 1910 Albertz pastor in Stampen at Oels (Silesia, today: Stepin, rural community Długołęka powiat Wroclaw, Lower Silesia Province) and 1921 Director of Studies at the newly founded Seminary in Johannesstift Berlin -Spandau, which was relocated in 1923 to Szczecin - chicks mill. He then worked for several years superintendent in Soldin (Neumark ).

From 1931 to 1953, Albertz pastor at St. Nicholas Church in Berlin-Spandau and at the same time superintendent of the church district of Spandau. From 1933 he was active in the Confessing Church in the resistance against the Nazi regime and it supportive German Christians. Of the state agencies work he was repeatedly arrested and punished with jail and dismissed ( after ca 1936/1937 ) of his ecclesiastical offices.

In 1937 he was among those who " The explanation of the 96 Protestant church leaders against Alfred Rosenberg because of its journal" Protestant Rome Pilgrims " signed.

1946 Albertz became a lecturer of New Testament theology, which was founded by the Confessing Church Church University Berlin and Professor of Reformed Theology at the Humboldt University.

In his last years he devoted himself to his studies, especially in the New Testament theology, provided it to his numerous offices in the Church and Ecumenism (including World Alliance of Reformed ) to let time.

Half-brother of Martin Albertz was the theologian and politician Heinrich Albertz.
