Martin Blessing

Martin Blessing ( born July 6, 1963 in Bremen ) is a German manager. He is CEO of Commerzbank.

Biography

Blessing comes from a banking family. His grandfather Karl Blessing was 1958-1969 president of the Bundesbank, his late father in 1987 Werner Blessing was from 1984 a full member of the board of Deutsche Bank.

He put his Abitur at the Bischof- Neumann -Schule in Königstein im Taunus. After completing an apprenticeship as a banker at Dresdner Bank from 1984 to 1987, he studied business administration at the University of Frankfurt and the University of St. Gallen, where he was also a member of the International Students' Committee. In 1988 he received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago.

From 1989 to 1996 he worked for the consulting firm McKinsey, the last two years as a partner. In the years 1997 to 2000 he was jointly responsible for the Retail Banking division at Dresdner Bank. From 2000 to 2001, Blessing CEO of his time to the Dresdner Bank belonging Direct Bank Advance Bank, which generated losses under his leadership, and was disbanded in 2003. During his studies he met his current wife know: Dorothee born Wieandt, daughter of the former CEO of the Bank for Social Economy (1990 to 1997) and the Bank Schmidt ( 2001-2004 ), Paul Wieandt. She was until 2013 a partner at the investment bank Goldman Sachs The couple has three daughters. A brother Blessings, Wieandt was 2008-2010 Chairman of the Board of Hypo Real Estate.
