Martin Chabada

Martin Chabada ( born June 14, 1977 in Kladno, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player who is under contract with EHC Biel in the National League A since January 2012.


Martin Chabada began his career as a hockey player in the junior section of the HC Sparta Prague, for its first team in 1996, he was initially active in the Czech Extraliga until 2002. During this period he won with Sparta in the seasons 1999/2000 and 2001/ 02 respectively to the Czech league title and was in the 2000/01 season also runner-up with his team. Between 1997 and 1999, the winger was also a parallel for the game Operation with Sparta in eleven games as Players out on loan for the HC Kometa Brno and HC Kralupy nad Vltavou in the first league game of the second Czech class in use. In 2002 NHL Entry Draft, he was selected in the eighth round as a total 252 players from the New York Islanders. For their farm team Bridgeport Sound Tigers, he scored in the 2002/03 season in 75 games 37 scorer points, including 20 goals.

After Chabada had started the 2003/04 season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL, he returned after only ten games back to HC Sparta Prague. The capital club he led in the 2005/06 season as team captain for the Czech champions regained the title. After the title - " hat trick " with Sparta, he went to Sweden, where he spent four years at the Luleå HF in the Elitserien, the top division of the country took. He then spent the 2010/11 season in the league rivals Södertälje SK, with whom he had to accept the descent into second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan. In Luleå he was starting his second year as assistant captain as then the Södertälje SK. For the 2011/12 season he was bound by the HC Lev Poprad from the Kontinental Hockey League. End of January 2012, the Czech agreed to a contract with the EHC Biel from Swiss National League A and signed a working document by the end of season 2011/12.
