Martin Cruz Smith
Martin Cruz Smith ( born 1942 in Reading, Pennsylvania; actually William Martin Smith) is an American writer.
Life
Martin Cruz Smith was born in 1942 in Reading, Pennsylvania, the son of a jazz musician and an Indian woman.
He studied at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and worked before he started writing, from 1965 to 1969 as a journalist. In the 1970s he published his novels under pseudonyms such as Nick Carter, Martin Quinn, Simon Quinn and Martin Smith. Famous made him the number to the investigator Arkady Renko Moscow, the first volume of Gorky Park (1981 ) on a worldwide bestseller in the U.S. was awarded the Gold Dagger and filmed in 1983.
Under the Gemeinschaftspseudonym Jake Logan, he wrote in the early 1970s two of the comprehensive well over 300 volumes western novel series Slocum; as for the 260 -volume series about the spy Nick Carter.
He lives with his family in San Rafael, California.
