Martin Emmrich

Martin Emmrich ( born December 17, 1984 in Magdeburg ) is a German tennis player.

Career

Emmrich has so far been primarily successful in doubles. On the Challenger Tour he could yet win eleven titles, including six with his Swedish partner Andreas Siljeström. Since 2011 Emmrich also plays on the ATP Tour. His Grand Slam debut, he celebrated at the U.S. Open, where he was able to reach the second round with Siljeström. There they were subject to Xavier Malisse and Mark Knowles 3:6, 3:6. His first greatest success achieved Emmrich, 2012 in Belgrade, where he could reach his first ATP final with Andreas Siljeström. There, however, they lost despite leadership nor the Israelis Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram. In October Emmrich surpassed this result in Vienna, when he won the tournament with Andre Begemann. In the 2013 season to him the real breakthrough came in on the World Tour: With Andre Begemann he reached the finals of Chennai and 's- Hertogenbosch. In Dusseldorf, they won their second joint title after beating Treat Huey and Dominic Inglot. In August, followed by the side of Christopher Kas of third Tour title for Emmrich, when they won the tournament of Kitzbühel. By these successes he advanced in the world rankings before up to rank 35, so he is the best German in the double World Ranking was temporarily.

He is the son of Thomas Emmrich, who was ever recorded as the only tennis player in the German Democratic Republic in the ATP world rankings.

Davis Cup

2013 was Martin Emmrich, at the time of the best German players in the double world rankings, his debut for the German Davis Cup team. In relegation match against Brazil when he came in the doubles used. On the side of Daniel Brands he was defeated Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares.
