Martin Fay

Martin Fay ( born September 19, 1936 in Dublin, Ireland, † November 14, 2012 ) was an Irish musician.

As a child he received violin lessons. He played with 18 at the Abbey Theatre Orchestra and was spotted by Seán Ó Riada, who brought him into his band " Ceoltoiri Chuallan ". From this tape it went seamlessly into the Chieftains, whose member he remained from 1962 to 2002. In addition to the younger violinist Seán Keane, he was the violinist for the quieter parts of the band. With 66 years he got out and remained only in his homeland, a member of the band, traveling became too much. He was the only Chieftain, who never produced a solo album.
