Martin Johnsrud Sundby

Martin Johnsrud Sundby ( born September 26, 1984 in Oslo) is a Norwegian cross-country skier.

Martin Johnsrud Sundby starts for Røa IL. Since late 2002 he appears in unterklassigen competitions such as the FIS races. In 2003, he took in Sollefteå, 2004 in Stryn without greater success at Junior World Championships in part. He was able to steadily improve its performances and launched in March 2005 in Oslo in a race over 50 kilometers for the first time in the Cross Country World Cup, but did not reach the target. Then it took another year until he was allowed to start again in the World Cup in Falun and Oslo. In December 2006, Sundby won in La Clusaz than 25 than 50 kilometers of first World Cup points. At the Olympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver Johnsrud Sundby won together with Odd - Bjørn Hjelmeset, Petter Northug and Lars Berger the silver medal in the relay race 4 x 10 km. Next major event was the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo. There, he finished at 30- km pursuit race in fifth place in the race over 15 km in the classical style, he won the bronze medal.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme, he won the silver medal in the pursuit race behind Dario Cologna. His biggest success was achieved by Sundby in the following season by winning the Tour de Ski 2013/2014 of 36 seconds ahead of his compatriot Chris Jespersen, during which he had won the pursuit race as the fifth stage and is the sixth stage in second place in the distance races.
